After our January 2025 “Slide Show” we decided that we’d had such a good response during the meeting to some of our “people” photos that we’d put up a Gallery of the ones that people seemed to have the most answers for, so that we can try to capture some of the knowledge out there.  On this page you will find a few photos of people which we showed at the 15 January meeting.  If you know anything else about any of these photos (where, when or who) then please click on the contact us link and fill in the box which will email the details to us.  We’ll then add the details here and acknowledge the provider of the information (if you’d rather stay anonymous please tell us when you send in the information).  Click on any of the photos for a larger view.

This one is described as “Chalford AFC off on a trip to Spain” and is from the Stroud News and Journal (SNJ) negatives that we were given. Lots of people seemed to recognise faces here during the slideshow – please let us know!  Also what date do you think this was?

 

 

 

 

 

The next one is entitled “Chalford Baptist Mission” and is also from the SNJ negatives.  It looks as though it was taken in a marquee, maybe waiting for a performance of some kind? It’s obviously not very warm as they’re wearing coats and one girl is wearing a SHS blazer. We reckoned 1960s but does anyone know more or recognise anyone?

 

 

 

 

 

Next we have “25 years long service presentation at Arnold Designs” from SNJ. Arnold Designs made laminated trays (probably every local household has one somewhere). A few people recognised faces in this one. Do let us know!

 

 

 

 

A photo of a Christ Church School group at a presentation of a cheque (possibly from a sponsored swim event?) to the United Society Partners in the Gospel. This was in 1973/4 and we can see Brother Andrew (the headteacher) and Rev Walter Evans at the back but does anyone recognise any of the children?

Chalford Cricket Team. At the slide show, this was thought to have been taken at Stroud Cricket Club and several people recognised faces here.  Let us know!

 

 

 

 

 

 

The cricket club again – this time off on a trip to Cornwall according to the notes. Also from SNJ. Recognise anyone? Any ideas on the date?

 

 

 

 

 

Finally (for now) this one described as “presentations for the Womens’ branch of the Royal British Legion”. We definitely had some faces recognised in this one at the show so please do let us know!
